Born Tommy Ray Bergeron Jr., to the son of a Methodist Minister, and raised in New Orleans, LA…it wasn’t long before his paternal grandfather began calling him ‘Tee Ray’. For some reason, the nickname stuck. I guess it's a Louisiana thing.

 

In high school, Tee was voted ‘wittiest’ by classmates, but decided to waste time going to college, finishing grad school, getting married, and having two kids before finally pursuing comedy at the age of 30.

 

Tee spent the early portion of his comedy life performing in bars, saloons, daiquiri shops and pool halls throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. No, they aren't all the same thing! He also honed his skills at the infamous Laff Stop in Houston. He was eventually invited to feature at the Baton Rouge Funny Bone…and quickly became a fan favorite. After spending a couple of years featuring on the road, Tee returned to Baton Rouge as a headliner, and hasn’t stopped.

Tee’s act has been described as ‘Observational Humor, with A Twist’ and as ‘Self Deprecating…but he always comes out on TOP!’ He has a Master’s Degree in Sarcasm, and a twisted view of the world!  An ordinary trip to Wal-Mart, or McDonald’s can become a twisted, humor-filled tale!

Tee Ray has performed in a multitude of comedy clubs, including: The Funny Bone, The Comedy Zone, Bonkers, South Street Comedy Club, The Joke Gym, Laugh In Comedy Café, The Laugh Out Loud Comedy Lounge, Comedy TX and Houston’s infamous Laff Stop. He has performed at multiple casinos in Mississippi, Louisiana and Nevada, and his show has been seen in many different theaters throughout the country.

You may have also seen him on the main stage at the House of Blues or on the top floor of the Hard Rock Café in New Orleans. Tee headlined three straight years at the New Orleans Comedy Festival, two at the New Orleans Comedy and Arts Festival, and was a feature performer at the Tower City Comedy Festival. He was the winner of the 2011 Gulf South Comedy Challenge. You can also see Tee on Theo Von's Netflix special 'No Offense' as Theo's opening act...including a 2-second fist-bump dressing room scene! He has hosted shows for Kenan's Thompson's 'Kenan Presents' contest. Most recently, Tee Ray is featured on the Amazon Prime Special "Lunchbox Comedy Live at Ground Zero" with a 20-minute set performed at Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club in Biloxi, MS.

Tee Ray has headlined benefit comedy shows such as ‘Laugh for Lungs’ and ‘Cajun Comic Relief’. These shows and others have helped raise money for many worthwhile organizations, including: The American Lung Association, The American Lymphoma Society, Toys for Tots, Children’s Miracle Network, The Humane Society, the Acadiana Autism Society of Louisiana, and the D.R.E.A.M. Foundation of Acadiana.
